All the Riester devices are self grounded and do not need grounding. The grounding has to be done only if the device is used near any other device which produces electrostatic field such as a CAT scan or defibrillator.
The grounding cable would plug into the side of the vital signs unit, and the other end, the end with the clamp, would clamp onto a metal object.
